Why we love this

  • Flexible accommodation in a grand stately home and a cottage in the grounds
  • Stunning period details including wood-panelled rooms and cosy fireplaces
  • Countryside setting, yet only a short drive from the vibrant town of Reigate

The house
Throughout this spacious house there are beautiful original details including oak flooring, ornate architraves, wood-panelled rooms and high ceilings.

Step into the impressive oak-panelled hallway and head through to the dining room where you can enjoy a fantastic dinner around the dining table with views over the garden.

There’s also a drawing room and a games room with comfortable seating and a grand oak fireplace, plus a snooker table. Should you need to catch up on work or simply fancy reading a book quietly, there’s a study too.

A modern and well-equipped kitchen offers everything you, or a private chef (if you opt to hire one), could need to create delicious meals for everyone. There’s a morning room next to it, ideal for taking time out with a coffee.

The house has nine bedrooms, which are a mixture of doubles with a king-size bed and twin bedrooms. One bedroom is on the ground floor and has a bathroom. The other eight are on the first floor, accessed via the striking carved staircase in the hallway. Two of the upstairs bedrooms are suites, one of which is very romantic and has a French bed and beautiful views. All bedrooms either have en-suite facilities or access to a private bathroom.

Outside, there are extensive gardens for playing games and having fun. There’s also a large terrace with tables and chairs where you can dine alfresco or enjoy evening drinks.

The cottage
The gatehouse cottage, next door to the main house, offers extra space, flexibility and privacy for your group. It has three comfortable bedrooms and sleeps up to six guests. Decorated in a modern and simple style, it’s ideal for members of your group who would like to retreat to their own space as and when they need to. Self-contained, it also features a kitchen, a bathroom with bath and shower over and a private garden area.

A member of staff will greet you on arrival and show you into the property.

Location

The neighbourhood

The property is located at the edge of a quiet village near the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You can walk to neighbouring villages and work up an appetite for lunch at one of the country pubs, while the wider area is fantastic for hiking, cycling and horse-riding.

The local high street is approximately a 10-minute drive away where you will find a large supermarket and several bars and restaurants. Meanwhile, the affluent and thriving market town of Reigate is also about a 10 to 15-minute drive from the property. Here, you can easily spend a day perusing the independent shops on the high street and picking which cafe, restaurant or pub to find your next refreshments. Reigate is also famous for its caves which are old sand mines that are open to the public on special open days that are held several times a year.
