Serenity Retreat is a detached, oak-frame house situated in a secluded spot in the peaceful grounds of a 14-acre, family-owned luxury cottage estate in south Devon. If you’re looking for somewhere with plenty of wow factor, Serenity Retreat will not disappoint. There’s a luxurious amount of space, while highlights include a living area with two walls of windows that keep the incredible countryside views in sight, a private hot tub and a wraparound balcony. Serenity Retreat enjoys a private setting yet is very close to the estate’s indoor swimming pool. It’s accessible too, with wheelchair access and an accessible bedroom with en-suite. (A wheelchair, ramp and shower chair are all available to borrow during your stay if required.) There’s also great WiFi and underfloor heating throughout the entire property.

There’s a large, enclosed porch, where you can hang up coats and store your walking boots, with the convenience of a WC just off it.

At the heart of the home is the impressive, contemporary, open-plan living/kitchen/dining area which is spacious and the perfect place to spend quality time together. It features limestone flooring, lofty oak-frame ceilings and huge windows to two sides that offer incredible views of the countryside.

There’s lots of room to spread out on the comfy sofas and watch a film on the Smart TV (with access to Amazon/Netflix) with a Sonos sound system too, while the feature Morso log burner will keep you nice and toasty. On warm days, open up the bifold doors and venture out onto the wraparound balcony.

The kitchen area is well-equipped with all the modern conveniences you will require to self-cater and you can easily chat the evening away over dinner at the dining table that seats 10 adults.

A separate utility room provides a sink, washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing board.

There are four bedrooms in total, all of which are light and spacious with luxurious touches. Bedroom one, on the ground floor, is the accessible bedroom with an en-suite and offers ease of access without compromising on design.

The other three bedrooms are on the lower ground floor and all benefit from doors that open onto the garden.

Bedroom two is the master and features a super-king-size bed and an en-suite shower room with a large shower, WC, basin and heated towel rail.

Bedroom three has a double bed (that is zip and link, so can be set up as two singles on request). It also has sole use of the luxurious main bathroom that has a walk-in shower and a deep soaking, designer bath.

Bedroom four has a super-king-size bed, an en-suite shower room and direct access to the hot tub and outside seating area.

There is room for a cot in both the master bedroom and bedroom four.

Outdoors there is a totally private garden, a wraparound balcony with a dining table and chairs, a BBQ area, a private hot tub and great views. There is also private parking for up to three cars in front of the house, with more spaces available in the estate’s general parking area.

You’ll also have access to the estate’s 14 acres of beautiful grounds, plus shared on-site facilities. These include an indoor swimming, an outdoor swimming pool and hot tub, a tennis court and children’s play areas.

The door to the house will be open and the key will be on the table. The owners live at the site and are available during your stay should you need any assistance. The swimming pools, tennis court and play areas are shared facilities available to guests of all cottages at the site.

Facilities at the site are unattended, so please supervise children at all times.

Deposit: Bookings are subject to a non-refundable deposit of 30% of the booking value plus applicable booking fees with the balance payable 60 days before the date of travel.

Accidental Damage Deposit: To maintain the highest standards in our properties, guests will need to pay a refundable Accidental Damage Deposit of £500 prior to their stay. An advance payment as detailed in the booking summary can be made to waive the requirement.

The cottage is part of a luxury cottage estate in a small hamlet between the towns of Totnes and Dartmouth in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty known as the South Hams. There are footpaths in the grounds that lead into the surrounding countryside and to local pubs.

During your stay, you will have access to on-site leisure facilities that are shared by guests of all cottages.

Gorgeous grounds
Enjoy a gentle walk, a picnic or a jog in the 14 acres of beautiful estate grounds. There is plenty of interesting flora and fauna here, including the pretty bluebells that appear in late spring to wildlife such as hares, deer and buzzards.

Swimming pools and spa facilities
Take a dip in the indoor heated swimming pool, where there’s an adult only swim time each morning. Plus, there is a sauna, a steam room and chairs to relax on both inside by the pool and outside in the lounge area.

There is also a heated outdoor swimming pool that’s open daily (weather-permitting) from the end of May to mid-September. Once you’ve cooled off, unwind on the sun deck that is kitted out with loungers for chilling out and sunbathing. Next to the pool there is also a shared hot tub with superb views towards Dartmoor National Park in the distance.

Children’s facilities
Indoors there is a soft-cushion playroom for little ones aged 5 years old and under. For outdoor fun, there are swings, an adventure playground and a toy shed full of buckets, spades, crabbing lines and body boards to take to the beach.

Other leisure facilities
Enjoy table football, tennis on the all-weather court (complimentary racquets and balls provided) or a game of boules.

Beyond the grounds
Just a short drive away you’ll discover some of Devon’s most stunning beaches such as Blackpool Sands (a 10-minute drive), as well as an unrivalled coastline and charming towns. Visit picturesque Dartmouth on the River Dart, Salcombe which is famous for its coastal views and fresh crab or go shopping in the historic market town of Totnes. You can also spend the day exploring the moorlands of Dartmoor National Park.

Getting around

A car is essential for travelling to the property and ease of getting around. If you are travelling by electric car, there is a private charging point to the side of the house but please bring your own cable and an upfront payment must be made prior to arrival.
