The cottage is beautifully appointed with delightful sage green windows, exposed stone walls and exposed beams to create a cosy and welcoming retreat.

Upon entering, you will be greeted by a bright and spacious lounge, complete with two cream sofas, gorgeous oak furniture and a cosy inglenook fireplace with a wood-burning stove. There is also a Smart TV should you wish to catch up on your favourite programmes or watch a movie or two.

Meanwhile, the adjoining kitchen and dining space are fully equipped with everything you will need to self-cater with ease. You will have access to an American fridge/freezer, a wine fridge, a dishwasher, an electric hob and oven, a coffee machine and a dining table that comfortably seats 4 guests.

The ground floor is complete with a small shower room and a dedicated workspace.

There are two stunning bedrooms on the first floor, each designed with calming colour tones and adorned with natural light. The master bedroom features a king-size bed and a modern en-suite with a bath and a walk-in shower, while the second bedroom has twin beds and an en-suite shower room.

Outside, you will have access to your own private lawn at the front of the cottage that’s fenced off from the owner’s garden. It's a delightful space with outdoor furniture for alfresco dining, a BBQ and a fire pit.

The cottage has a Yale Smart-Lock. You will be given your own unique access code for flexible check-in.

The house is supplied with hot water and heating courtesy of a sustainable wood pellet boiler.

Deposit: Bookings are subject to a non-refundable deposit of 30% of the booking value plus applicable booking fees with the balance payable 60 days before the date of travel.

Accidental Damage Deposit: To maintain the highest standards in our properties, guests will need to pay a refundable Accidental Damage Deposit of £200 prior to their stay. An advance payment as detailed in the booking summary can be made to waive this requirement.

Book with confidence: If your booking is affected by new Government travel restrictions which were not known at the time of booking, and you are legally unable to travel, we will arrange with the property owner to refund 100% of your holiday cost.

The neighbourhood

The cottage lies in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which is a paradise for walkers, horse-riders and mountain bikers, with terrain including high chalk ridges, fields, ancient heathland and woodlands. St Mary Bourne offers the perfect balance of seclusion with village amenities on the doorstep, it has a welcoming atmosphere, a small shop, a café and two pubs, The George Inn and Bourne Valley Inn, along with a beautiful 12th century church. All are within a 10-minute walk along level footpaths.

If you like getting dressed up for the races, Newbury Racecourse is about a 30-minute drive away from the cottage and races are held throughout the summer. In the same direction, there’s Highclere Castle, the historic home of Lord and Lady Carnarvon. Made famous for being the location of the hugely popular television series ‘Downton Abbey’, it is open to look around the Capability Brown-designed gardens and for tours of the house that include the Egyptian Exhibition that celebrates the part that the 5th Earl of Carnarvon played in discovering the tomb of Tutankhamun.
