This stylish and contemporary property enjoys the peace and quiet of a beautiful, countryside Somerset location, yet is close enough to Bristol and Bath for times when you want to eat out, or enjoy retail therapy and nightlife.

Hosting up to ten guests it’s the perfect holiday home to enjoy a stay with family or friends. Every inch of the space has been carefully designed with this in mind from the comfy sofa seating made for movie nights together, to the flexible bedroom set-up, to the outdoor bar area that comes complete with a TV which is great for socialising.

Shepherd's Lodge is light and airy with large windows which flood the rooms with natural light and showcase the stunning views. Many rooms lead out onto the terraces and there is underfloor heating throughout.

Step inside into the entrance hall that leads to the open-plan living space which is all on one level and purposely designed for entertaining. To start with there’s the sitting area where you can sink into the sofas and enjoy a movie thanks to the Smart TV that comes with a Sky package.

The chefs in your group will love the contemporary kitchen. It’s well equipped with wall mounted electric ovens and an induction hob that’s set into the large island with bar stools so that you can chat with your fellow guests while you cook. There’s also a combi microwave, a Liebherr fridge/freezer with two freezers, a wine cooler, dishwasher and Quooker hot tap so that every meal from three-course dinner to party buffet can be catered for with ease. Meanwhile, the dining area is a light and bright place for everyone to gather together and relax.

The three bedrooms are adjacent to the living area. One bedroom has four single beds, the second bedroom has three single beds and an en suite shower room, and the third bedroom has three single beds. Two singles can easily be converted into a super-king-size bed to give greater flexibility for your group. There’s also a family shower room with a walk-in rainfall shower.

For party evenings the outdoor space is the place to be. Mediterranean plants grace the mature borders, whilst sweeping lawns and hedges lead your eyes to magnificent views of the countryside. There are two large terraces, one is paved and can be accessed from the living area, whilst the other is a raised deck at the front of the property. The gardens are a great place for sipping cocktails at the bar area, cooking up a storm on the gas BBQ, watching the outdoor TV and al fresco dining or soaking away in the luxurious hot tub.

If you love the sound of this place but need more bedrooms Shepherd's Lodge can be booked with the neighbouring property, Shepherd's Lake View, which sleeps sixteen guests.

There is a key safe for access and parking for three cars on the gravel areas only. Please do not park on the grass.

If you'd like to offset the carbon emissions from your trip get in touch and we can arrange this for a small fee.

One infant can be accommodated in a travel cot (on request), but cot sheets are not provided.

If you are staying with children and dogs please note the garden is not enclosed.

Deposit: Bookings are subject to a non-refundable deposit of 30% of the booking value plus applicable booking fees with the balance payable 60 days before the date of travel.

Accidental Damage Deposit: To maintain the highest standards in our properties, guests will need to pay a refundable Accidental Damage Deposit of £500 prior to their stay.

Book with confidence: If your booking is affected by new Government travel restrictions which were not known at the time of booking, and you're legally unable to travel, we will arrange with the property owner to refund 100% of your holiday cost.

The neighbourhood

Shepherd's Lodge is set in a small village 8 miles south of Bristol and ten miles north of Wells. It is a tranquil, rural spot close to the Chew Valley Lakes and the northern edge of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, making it a great base for countryside walks and scenic bike rides. If there are any keen fishermen in your group, fly fishing is available at Chew Valley Lakes too. Whilst in the region, you really should visit the Cheddar Gorge which is England’s largest gorge and is famous for its caves.

When the bright lights of the city beckon, choose from Bristol or Bath. The city of Bristol offers a great day out and we recommend taking a boat trip around the historic harbour, or climbing aboard the SS Brunel, Britain’s world's first great ocean liner. Do also check out the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery to marvel at the outstanding collections of art, archaeology, geology and natural history.
