Cosy shepherd’s hut for two set in a secluded and tranquil spot in Exmoor where you can unwind and enjoy the sounds of nature, dips in the wood-fired hot tub and stargazing.
This charming shepherd’s hut in Exmoor is perfect for a couple looking for a cosy and romantic retreat in total peace and seclusion. Escaping the stresses of modern life is easy here. Refreshingly, there isn’t a TV or WiFi, the perfect opportunity for a total digital detox and to relish the therapeutic benefits of nature in your own rural hideaway. The level of design detail inside is pretty impressive with highlights including lovely soft furnishings, a Belfast sink and space for a dining table (not always the case in a shepherd’s hut). Meanwhile, the outside space, complete with a wood-fired hot tub, is perfect for enjoying lunch alfresco or stargazing in the clear Exmoor sky.

This cosy shepherd’s hut features an open-plan space that incorporates the lounge, kitchen, dining and sleeping areas, all tastefully decorated in an elegant, country style.

There’s a small dining table and chairs so that you can enjoy all your meals at the hut if you wish, while the wood burner adds an extra layer of cosiness to chilly days.

There is no TV or WiFi at this property, but that just makes it all the more appealing to anyone who wants to completely switch off for a while.

Meanwhile, the kitchen is equipped with a mini gas oven and a two-ring gas hob and a fridge.

The sleeping area is at the other end of the hut and features a double bed. It’s an inviting place to relax and enjoy the fabulous views of the woodlands and fields through the window.

A separate hut next to the shepherd’s hut houses the modern shower room with a large shower cubicle, a wash basin and a WC.

Outside there’s a decked area with a bistro table and chairs for dining alfresco against a backdrop of the surrounding woodlands. There’s also a wood-fired hot tub and a second decked area that features a picnic bench and a fire pit – perfect for toasting marshmallows.

Logs are provided for the wood burner and the wood-fired hot tub.

There is a key safe where you can access the key to the property for a self-check-in.

If you'd like to offset the carbon emissions from your trip, get in touch and we can arrange this for a small fee.

Phone signal may be limited depending upon the provider.

The neighbourhood

The shepherd’s hut is perfectly placed for exploring the stunning Exmoor National Park and Somerset. If you’re feeling energetic, begin with a walk through Snowdrop Valley up to the summit of Dunkery Beacon, which is the highest point on Exmoor. From here, there are amazing, far-reaching views across the surrounding moorland and of the Bristol Channel.

Meanwhile, the local village of Wheddon Cross is about 2 miles away and has a local shop and a pub. If you’re visiting in February, you’re also likely to see the gorgeous displays of snowdrops that carpet the area, for which the village is renowned.
