Designed for groups, whether family and friends celebrating an occasion or colleagues enjoying a very special corporate retreat, there’s plenty of room for up to 26 of you (16 at Shepherd's Lakeview and 10 at Shepherd’s Lodge) to make yourselves at home and have fun. Between the two properties, there are lots of places to socialise or relax with highlights including a games room with a pool table, bar and BBQ areas, a hot tub and gorgeous views of Chew Valley Lake and the Mendip Hills AONB.

Shepherd's Lakeview

Walk through the entrance hall, off which is a cloakroom and a separate WC, to the kitchen/dining/living area which is a social space designed so that cooking, chatting and dining can all take place at the same time so nobody feels left out.

The kitchen is well-equipped for entertaining and has an induction hob, combi microwave, two toasters, a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, Quooker boiling water tap and three wine coolers. There are bar stools around the kitchen island which is a great place for informal dining, whilst the main dining area comfortably seats sixteen.

The living area, with comfy sofas and chairs, has full-length windows offering an incredible amount of natural light and superb views across the landscaped grounds to Chew Valley Lake. Meanwhile, the cosy TV room also has full-length windows, as well as a 52" widescreen TV and a wood burner. On warm days you can open up the doors in the living area and step straight onto the large patio.

If all this wasn’t enough, there’s also a games room with a bar and a full-size pool table where grown-ups can have some fun and maybe a friendly competition.

There are four bedrooms in total. Bedroom 1 has four single beds and an en suite bathroom with a bath and separate shower. Bedroom 2 also has four single beds, plus a bunk bed and an en suite shower room. Bedroom 3 has two single beds and Bedroom 4 has four single beds; these two rooms share the family shower room. All the single beds are zip and link, meaning they can be converted into a 6-foot double on request. All bedrooms also offer full-length windows and views of either the courtyard or the lake.

Shepherd’s Lodge

Step into the entrance hall and head to the open-plan living space which is all on one level and purposely designed for entertaining. To start with there’s the sitting area where you can sink into the sofas and enjoy a movie thanks to the Smart TV that comes with a Sky package.

The chefs in your group will love the contemporary kitchen. It’s well equipped with wall mounted electric ovens and an induction hob that’s set into the large island with bar stools so that you can chat with your fellow guests while you cook. There’s also a combi microwave, a Liebherr fridge/freezer with two freezers, a wine cooler, dishwasher and Quooker hot tap so that every meal from three-course dinner to party buffet can be catered for with ease. Meanwhile, the dining area is a light and bright place for everyone to gather together and relax.

One of the two outdoor terraces can be accessed from the living area (the other is a raised deck at the front of the property).

The three bedrooms are adjacent to the living area. One bedroom has four single beds, the second bedroom has three single beds and an en suite shower room, and the third bedroom has three single beds. Two singles can easily be converted into a super-king-size bed to give greater flexibility for your group. There’s also a family shower room with a walk-in rainfall shower.

Outdoor space

The properties have their own outdoor spaces, both with a BBQ, seating and dining areas. However, the outdoor space as a whole, which includes sweeping lawns and magnificent views across the countryside, offers an excellent place to relax and socialise together.

If you’re looking for a little bit of indulgent relaxation, just outside Shepherd’s Lakeview is a six-seat hot tub and sun loungers where you can unwind and catch some rays.
For evenings spent chatting and partying, gather over at Shepherd’s Lodge where you can sip cocktails at the indoor/outdoor bar area, cook up a storm on the BBQ and even watch TV outdoors.
There is also a gravelled parking area with designated spaces for up to nine cars.

There are key safes for a self-check-in.

If you'd like to offset the carbon emissions from your trip get in touch and we can arrange this for a small fee.

One infant can be accommodated at both properties in a travel cot (on request), but cot sheets are not provided.

If you are staying with children and dogs the garden is enclosed when the double gate has been closed.

Dogs are allowed.Up to 4 dogs are permitted at an additional fee of £30 per dog

Deposit: Bookings are subject to a non-refundable deposit of 30% of the booking value plus applicable booking fees with the balance payable 60 days before the date of travel.

Security deposit: A security deposit of £1000 will be charged prior to check-in and returned following your stay.

The neighbourhood

The property is set in a small village 8 miles south of Bristol and ten miles north of Wells. It is a tranquil, rural spot close to the Chew Valley Lakes and the northern edge of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, making it a great base for countryside walks and scenic bike rides. If there are any keen fishermen in your group, fly fishing is available at Chew Valley Lakes too. Whilst in the region, you really should visit the Cheddar Gorge which is England’s largest gorge and is famous for its caves.

When the bright lights of the city beckon, choose from Bristol or Bath. The city of Bristol offers a great day out and we recommend taking a boat trip around the historic harbour, or climbing aboard the SS Brunel, Britain’s world's first great ocean liner. Do also check out the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery to marvel at the outstanding collections of art, archaeology, geology and natural history.
