Luxury Cottages Exmoor

Exmoor Holiday Cottages

There is plenty to look forward to on a luxury cottage holiday to Exmoor National Park in the south west of England. Covering parts of west Somerset and north Devon, the scenery here is both stunning and dramatic. A landscape of moorland, forest and valleys with babbling streams, meets a patchwork of pastureland, plus beautiful coastline. Add into this the famous wild ponies that live on Exmoor and you have a very special destination for outdoor adventurers, walkers and nature-lovers.

It is a lovely place to visit at any time of the year, with the changing seasons bringing with them a variety of natural spectacles. Visit in late summer and one of the main highlights is the blooming purple heather that blankets the ground.

Meanwhile, in winter it is a fantastic place for bracing walks and mugs of steaming coffee enjoyed while watching the rising morning mist. Exmoor National Park is also a Dark Sky Reserve, perfect for star-gazing on clear, winter nights.

The Best Places to Visit in Exmoor

Exmoor National Park is a fantastic place to get away from it all and enjoy fantastic open spaces. On the boundary of the national park there are vibrant towns, both on the coast and in the beautiful countryside.

Discover villages by the beach and on the South West Coast Path where you can enjoy relaxing on the sands or long walks in the sea breeze.

Or head inland and get onto one of the many paths where you can walk for miles through rural landscapes, beside rivers and up hills without hardly seeing anyone else.

The Best Things to Do in Exmoor

Many of the best things to do in the Exmoor National Park are outdoor adventures. Go sea kayaking, walk along the South West Coast Path, or head inland where numerous walking routes traverse the unspoilt countryside.

For incredible vistas, walk up the hills to Dunkery Beacon. Or for views of a different kind, go stargazing – Exmoor is a Dark Sky Reserve and one of the best places in the UK to do so.

If it’s history and culture that are calling you, how about meeting the friendly residents of the Exmoor Pony Centre? Or take an exhilarating ride on the impressive Victorian Lynton and Lynmouth cliff railway.

Dog-friendly Cottages in Exmoor

Is there any better feeling than watching your pooch lolloping in the sand? We think not. Several of Exmoor’s beaches welcome dogs year-round and with a wide choice of dog-friendly pubs and restaurants, Exmoor is well geared up for canines.

Our canine-loving hosts ensure your pet receives as warm a welcome as their humans and our dog-friendly cottages generally have a secure garden for pets to romp in without worry. For advice on bringing your dog to Exmoor, speak to our lovely Guest Services team.

Cottages with Log Fires in Exmoor

A crackling log fire is the epitome of a country escape in our opinion – and the perfect end to a busy day of exploring.

If the cottage you’ve booked has a log fire, we’ll make sure it’s fully stocked before you arrive so all you need to do is light up and relax.

Our log fires are cleaned and checked regularly to ensure they’re safe to enjoy. We just ask that you keep an eye on wandering little hands and noses when it’s lit as the outside of the burner can get very hot.
