The Best Things to Do in Dartmouth

Hours can be spent perched on Dartmouth’s harbour walls soaking in the scenery and crabbing. The right supplies for the job are widely available along the waterfront – as are fresh Cornish ice-cream and chips.

Across the bay, it’s all aboard the Dartmouth steam train, a great adventure at any age. Chug right alongside the River Dart all the way to Torquay if you wish or make the walk from Kingswear Station to Greenway House, Agatha Christie’s holiday home.

The beach is never far away. Castle Cove and Sugary Cove, both beautiful and secluded, are less than 10 minutes by car. These are rock and shingle beaches so if you’re looking to build sandcastles, drive a little further to Blackpool Sands.
