Eaton Lodge is an extensive residence set out over the original lodge and a two-storey tower extension, both of which have been designed so that most rooms take full advantage of the views of the gardens and the river beyond.
The main entrance is at the boot room where muddy wellies and wet coats can be left to dry before you head on into the house. The boot room also has access to the integral garage where there is secure parking.
The kitchen is an inviting place to prepare food and warm up on a cold day thanks to the Aga which is set to a slow heat and is good for slow-cooking stews, that will be ready on your return from a full day out. For general cooking there is a fan-assisted oven, hob and microwave, as well as a fridge, kettle, toaster and dishwasher. (A freezer and extra fridges can be found in the garage.) For informal dining sit at the table in the kitchen, whilst the separate dining room seats ten – perfect for everyone to share dinner and chat about the day’s events.
There are plenty of rooms for recreation so everyone can find space to do what they want without disturbing anyone else. For family fun, the games room has a pool table and games to keep all ages entertained. Meanwhile, teens in particular will love the movie room on the second floor of the tower. Equipped with reclining chairs, a Super HD 55-inch TV, Netflix and Blu-Ray DVDs, it’s the perfect place to chill out, watch a film or play computer games.
For quiet time there’s the conservatory, located between the tower and the main lodge, which is flooded with natural light and is a serene place to read a book, watch the birds outside, or sip a cup of tea. Or, head to the hunting room which has views over the garden and leads out to a decked veranda. In the evenings, the hunting room is a cosy place to gather around the wood-burning stove, curl up on one of the comfy sofas and watch TV. If you like star-gazing, pick a clear night and spend some time on the top floor of the tower where there is a telescope to help you appreciate the sky in detail.
In the main lodge there are three bedrooms. The first has a double bed, views over the garden and a separate bathroom nearby with roll top bath and shower. The second is the master and features a king-size bed and en-suite shower room, plus space for a cot if required. Meanwhile, the third bedroom is particularly suitable for children as it has two bunk beds (four beds in total, which are big enough for adults), a TV and is located next to the dining room. Little ones can be left to settle knowing that the grown-ups are nearby –enjoying dinner – should they need them. There is a bathroom with a bath and shower nearby too.
Two further bedrooms are located in the tower; both are on the ground floor, one with a double bed and a shower room nearby, the other with a four-poster king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a roll top bath and the luxury of a TV.
Outside there are stunning, enclosed gardens that overlook the river and are a haven for wildlife including rabbits and ducks. Amongst the trees, shrubs and plants is a stream, terraces, a firepit and a variety of places to sit and dine al fresco.
A private hot tub can be arranged for your stay for an additional cost subject to availability, please arrange directly with the owner.
