This charming, 17th-century, stone cottage is set on an equally charming street of terraced buildings in the historic town of Sherborne. Brimming with character, original features include an inglenook fireplace, while the private cottage garden, complete with hot tub, is the perfect oasis. There’s also the bonus of access to the residents’ lounges, bar and the spa at the boutique hotel next but one. Many of Sherborne’s shops, pubs and restaurants, plus attractions including Sherborne Old and New Castles are only a short walk, while the location is fantastic for exploring the Dorset countryside.

  • The space

This cosy cottage is set out over three floors and is furnished with antiques and original paintings in keeping with the period style.

On the ground floor there’s a sitting room with a large inglenook fireplace with a log burner, as well as a sofa, armchairs and a window seat, plus a Netflix enabled Smart TV.

Next to the sitting room is the dining room, with a (non-operational) fireplace and a large table with seating for six guests. It’s the perfect place for enjoying dinner or playing one of the board games such as Monopoly, that are provided. There’s even an Alexa.

Meanwhile, the kitchen is well-equipped with everything you would expect to find including an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher, as well as a washing machine. A downstairs WC is located by the kitchen for your convenience.

On the first floor there’s the master bedroom which has a super-king-size bed, a window seat and a raised area with a Victorian style bathtub. In addition, there’s an en-suite bathroom with a rain shower. The second bedroom is a smaller double but equally sumptuous with a walk-in wardrobe and this bedroom is served by an adjoining bathroom.

Upstairs, in the eaves of the cottage, is the third bedroom which has a super-king-size bed and an en-suite shower room.

Soft towelling dressing gowns are provided for guests too.

There’s also a small bunkhouse in the garden of the cottage, ideal for younger guests to play in.

The walled courtyard garden is a pretty space with a table and chairs, as well as a BBQ area. Meanwhile, a pathway leads to your private wood-fired hot tub area with deck chairs for you to relax in. It’s an ideal oasis of calm away from the town.

As a guest of the cottage, you also have full access to the facilities at the neighbouring hotel which include a spa (bookings required), a bar, lounges, a restaurant and a car park.

Set in the beautiful medieval town of Sherborne, the cottage is within walking distance of lots of lovely things to see and do. A number of beautiful country and coastal walks can be enjoyed locally too, some beginning from the cottage door, while others start about an hour’s drive away.
