The Llŷn Peninsula in North Wales is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that attracts holidaymakers in search of sweeping bays and breathtaking coastal views. If you want to be in prime position for its beaches, water sports and the Wales Coastal Path, Ty Hir, in the pretty village of Llanbedrog, is one of the best seaside cottages to stay at.
Ty Hir has an ‘upside-down’ layout to maximise the sea views which you can gaze at for hours from the cosy open-plan living space with its private balcony. Devon’s jaw-dropping coastline is peppered with sandy beaches. Those along the north coast especially are very popular and many are a paradise for surfers and water sports enthusiasts. Devon’s Jurassic Coast is also rich in prehistoric treasures, perfect for a spot of fossil hunting.
Base yourself at Waters Dream in the pretty fishing village of Appledore in North Devon where the Taw and Torridge rivers meet. Set on a street of pastel-coloured houses, the cottage is full of character. Set in a wooded valley in north Cornwall, yet close to the Camel Estuary and the delightful fishing town of Padstow, Daydreamer offers a tranquil place for food-lovers, walkers and surfers to indulge in their passions.

For a day at the seaside, head to Minehead Beach which is about 5 minutes away by car or 15 minutes on foot. It’s a wide, sandy stretch perfect for beach games and building sandcastles.
If you’d prefer to explore the delights of the national park, why not hike to the summit of Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor where there are far-reaching views across the surrounding countryside and the dramatic coastline of the Bristol Channel.
Other good days out include the iconic water-powered cliff railway in Devon that connects the fishing village of Lynmouth and the Victorian village of Lynton perched 500 feet above.
