Kent Holiday Cottages

Known as the ‘Garden of England’ for its abundance of fruit orchards and hops, Kent also has a reputation for its fine beaches. Away from the shore, there are castles, museums, theme parks and shops – and the jewel in the crown, Canterbury Cathedral.

With reams of traditional English countryside and central London just a 90-minute drive away, Kent really does have it all.

Action-packed days in this historic home county are best followed by evenings beside a crackling log fire or a soak in the hot tub. That’s where our luxury cottages come in.

The Best Places to Visit in Kent

Kent has some of Britain’s best beaches, including Botany Bay with its dramatic chalk stacks and Margate with its golden, sandy plains.

There’s no shortage of pretty market towns and villages to lose yourself in either. The UNESCO World Heritage town of Canterbury is a must to visit the cathedral, which embodies 1,500 years of history.

Foodies might enjoy Whitstable which has an age-old reputation for oysters. The town supplied half of the oysters consumed in London during the Victorian period. It’s now a hub for fine seafood. Visit in September and you’ll experience its annual Oyster festival.

Or perhaps Sandwich instead? We don’t owe the name of the beloved lunchtime staple to this town, but regardless, it’s one of the best preserved Medieval settlements in England and well worth a visit.

The White Cliffs of Dover, Kent

The Best Things to Do in Kent

Fill your days with exploring stately homes, cobbled market towns and medieval fortresses or simply enjoy Kent’s rural charm on one of hundreds of walks in the region. On a clear day, walk along the White Cliffs of Dover and you’ll be able to see France across the channel.

Beyond the beaches, family friendly activities include Dreamland theme park in Margate, the steam train on the Kent and East Sussex Railway and Port Lympne Safari Park.

And on grown-up holidays, England’s wine country is calling. Sample sparkling champagne, crisp whites and rich reds in Kent’s vineyards or create your own pub crawl through the breweries and see where all of those hops end up.
