The neighbourhood
The house is located in Old Bursledon, a quaint village on the River Hamble in Hampshire. The nearest places to eat are The Jolly Sailor (as seen in Howards' Way), which serves classic favourites with waterside views and The Vine Inn – a cosy pub serving home-cooked food and local ales.
For boaters, the River Hamble is on the doorstep which leads to the Solent, a haven for exploring the South Coast and the Isle of Wight alike. If you are keen to get on the water boat, Pure Latitude Boat Club offers powerboat rides and lunch packages, evening sailboat cruises and full-day sailing experiences with food included. Along with this, charter can be arranged at the Marinas for a trip over to the Isle of Wight exploring all it has to offer including the bustling seaside town of Cowes, Yarmouth and the famous Hut restaurant in Colwell Bay.
Local Marinas which are walking distance include, Deacons (5mins), Premier (10mins) and Universal (20mins). We are a short drive to Mercury Marina and Port Hamble Marina.
For those interested in local history Netley Abbey is a short drive and Royal Victoria Country Park and Chapel are a good day out.
The Bursledon Windmill is a must-visit during your stay, or you can visit the Bursledon Brickworks Museum to learn about the Victorian era of British brickmaking.
The pretty village of Hamble (also known as Hamble Le Rice) is around a 10-minute drive away. Here, you will find winding streets and historic cottages, a convenience shop and a host of pubs and restaurants – perfect for sampling local produce, ale and specialist rum. It’s also a popular sailing haunt and yachters moor at the marina and visit for sailing races and events. Get up close to the sparkling yachts and if you’re looking to enjoy the high life, there are gourmet restaurants and champagne bars too.
Further afield you can visit the city of Southampton, explore the South Downs, visit Manor Farm Country Park or Royal Victoria Country Park, ride the ferry across to the Isle of Wight for the day, or take the train to the New Forest.
