    One of three luxury retreats on the site with a driveway that’s lined with pretty blossom trees in spring, The Blacksmith’s Shop is the perfect choice for a cosy and quiet getaway for two at any time of year. Spend days relaxing on the terrace as the wildlife roams the rolling hills beyond and evenings in your private hot tub under a sky full of stars. Should you wish to explore the area, there is an abundance of walking and cycling routes on the doorstep or you can venture to the historic city of York.

  • The space

    The cottage is set out over one floor and features rustic timber walls, exposed wooden beams and underfloor heating throughout.

    As you step inside you will be greeted by two leather armchairs, perfectly positioned around the log-effect fireplace so you can relax in sumptuous comfort. Feel free to make use of the books and board games throughout your stay too.

    The housekeeping cupboard provides a selection of essentials including a mini fridge, a microwave, a kettle, a toaster and a Nespresso coffee machine.

    Homemade bread, cooked English breakfast and artisan pizzas can also be made to order with plenty of notice and at an additional fee if you don’t feel like cooking.

    Just a few steps away is the super-king-size bed with quality bed linen and a perfect view of the Smart TV on the wall. Meanwhile, the bathroom features a luxurious walk-in shower and a huge stone resin bath.

    Outside, you will have access to the terrace and a luxurious hot tub which overlooks the Yorkshire Wolds. Should you wish to dine alfresco, there is a gas BBQ and garden furniture.

  • Concierge services and experiences

    Wire Sculpting

    The owner is an expert in wire sculpting and will teach you to create your very own sculpture. Classes run for the full day and a homemade lunch with wine can be included at an additional fee.

    Sourdough Bread Baking

    The owner is a passionate cook and will teach you how to make your own loaf of bread and provide a sourdough starter kit so you can work on your new skill at home too.

    Deposit: Bookings are subject to a non-refundable deposit of 30% of the booking value plus applicable booking fees with the balance payable 60 days before the date of travel.

    Accidental Damage Deposit: To maintain the highest standards in our properties, guests will need to pay a refundable Accidental Damage Deposit of £200 prior to their stay. An advance payment as detailed in the booking summary can be made to waive this requirement.

    Book with confidence: If your booking is affected by new Government travel restrictions which were not known at the time of booking, and you are legally unable to travel, we will arrange with the property owner to refund 100% of your holiday cost.

The neighbourhood

The cottage is located in the picturesque Yorkshire Wolds with pretty walks from the doorstep including the Wolds Way footpath, The Chalkland Way and The Minster Way. If you prefer a two-wheel adventure, bring your bikes along and admire the stunning scenery as you go.

There are plenty of great pubs and restaurants in the area, with the closest being The Wolds Inn which serves a range of traditional meals and local ales, plus it's within walking distance. The Gaite and The Goodmanham Arms are also great choices and just a 10-minute drive away, while the Michelin-starred restaurant Pipe & Glass is a 20-minute drive. Booking is essential.

York is 35 minutes away and perfect for a day trip or a spot of retail therapy. Discover this stunning Roman and Viking city with its beautiful architecture and historic landmarks, grab a bite to eat at one of the many eateries or head to the National Railway Museum for a journey through time.

If you wish to venture towards the coast, Flamborough Head, Filey, Bridlington and Fraisethorpe beach are all around 35 minutes away and are all dog-friendly too.

Other nearby attractions include Castle Howard, Burton Agnes Hall and Yorkshire Air Museum.

A car is essential for travelling to the property and ease of getting around.
