Ridge Farmhouse is a charming abode that dates back to the 17th century and enjoys the most spectacular setting in the foothills of the Black Mountains. Brimming with character, the farmhouse features original wooden ceiling beams and oak floors, alongside elegant country decor and cosy log burners. Views extend over the fields (the house is set on a working farm estate) towards Hatterrall Hill and are particularly amazing from the large, cottage garden. Wake up to the sound of birdsong, explore the wilds of the hill and sip evening drinks beneath the stars. Meanwhile, the charming town of Abergavenny is just a short drive away.

Step through the oak front door and head into the cosy dining room where there’s a feature brick fireplace (non-functional) and a dining table to seat eight. With a piano too, musical guests can play tunes for everyone to sing along to for a lovely evening of entertainment.
Off the dining room is a living room with oak beams and a stone fireplace and log burner. On a rainy day, get comfortable on the plump sofas and watch a movie on the Smart TV, read a book or play a board game.
Meanwhile, the spacious, open-plan kitchen/diner is very much the heart of this house and a social space to spend time together. The kitchen is equipped with everything you will need to self-cater including a range cooker with electric hob, a fridge, microwave, a dishwasher and a coffee machine. Off the kitchen is the oak-frame sun room which has a huge floor-to-ceiling window and is perfect for relaxing with a morning coffee.
There’s also a utility room with a larder, an area that’s perfect for making cocktails, a fridge-freezer, a washing machine and tumble dryer. There’s a boot room too, plus a downstairs shower room.
In addition, there is a snug room that has further seating and another log burner.
Upstairs, there are four king-size bedrooms, two of which have an en-suite shower room. One of the other bedrooms can be made up as two single beds on request. There is also a family bathroom with a bath, bidet, sink and WC.
Patio doors lead from the living area outside to an oak-framed dining area in the extensive private gardens. Far-reaching views extend across fields and over open countryside to Hatterrall Ridge and the Black Mountains. Highlights of the garden include a hot tub, a fish pond with a water feature (covered with net) and the oak-framed gazebo which is ideal for a spot of lunch or an evening drink whilst stargazing.

A stay here is very much about enjoying a break from the norm, relishing the rural life and exploring the wilds. There are lots of local mountain walks and you can start by following the footpath just outside your door that leads onto Hatterrall Hill, where the views across Herefordshire are breath-taking. You can also walk, for about 20-minutes, down country lanes and over stiles to the small hamlet of Clodock where you can reward yourself with a drink at the traditional pub.A number of other pubs can be found in local villages, including Longtown, a short drive away. There are village shops too, while the town of Abergavenny, about a 20-minute drive is where you will find supermarkets and many places to eat including takeaways.Inspiration for you
