Stylish and spacious detached cottage in popular Abersoch, sympathetically renovated to create a spacious modern home for an active family, whilst retaining period charm and original features.
Pen y Bryn is a traditional, detached cottage that has been sympathetically extended and renovated into a sophisticated home ideal for a luxury family beach holiday. There’s a breath-taking open-plan living space, cosy snugs and a well-maintained garden, complete with a hot tub and elegant outdoor dining. There's also an indulgent feel throughout with many high-end fixtures and fittings such as an impressive handmade kitchen which exudes quality and attention to detail. The house enjoys an elevated position with views across countryside and is just far enough away from the centre of Abersoch to feel a little bit secluded, yet village shops, cafes and beaches are all within walking distance. Sea views over Abersoch towards the iconic St Tudwal’s Islands can be enjoyed from the front garden and first floor bedrooms.

The house blends original features including wooden ceiling beams with a host of stylish fixtures and fittings, many bespoke. It is spacious, yet cosy and there are different areas to either socialise or enjoy quiet time alone, so everyone will feel at home.

From the entrance hall there is a sitting room with a log burner, which is the perfect place for those in the group looking for peace and quiet to read a good book or even take a nap.

Meanwhile, a large, open-plan room across the back of the house comprises the kitchen, dining area and lounge. The handmade kitchen has plenty of prep space and a kitchen island with a sink, Quooker instant boiling water tap and an induction hob, and there is also a large American-style fridge/freezer, a 6-drawer electric AGA with full operating instructions, a Ninja Air Fryer, a microwave (hidden from view in the larder cupboard), a toaster, a kettle and a dishwasher. Plus, there is a washing machine and a tumble dryer.

The dining table is next to the kitchen and the layout makes it easy for the cooks in the group to join in conversations with everyone.

In the lounge area there is sofa and armchair seating with space for all of you to sit down and relax, while a Smart TV with sound bar, built-in DVD player, a Sky Box and access to Netflix (with own login details) is on-hand to provide the entertainment.

In addition, there is a snug (off the open-plan kitchen/dining room/lounge) with a second Smart TV, also with sound bar, Sky Box and access to Netflix. It’s the ideal spot for teens to hang out.

Bifold doors lead to the rear garden which is enclosed by a hedge and features a lawn and a patio with a luxury 6-seat hot tub, a dining table and chairs, a lounge area, a gas BBQ, a fire pit and partial views of the countryside.

Back inside, a handy utility/boot room with hanging space and an extra fridge, should you need one, is great for storing away shoes and drying coats. Off here, is a shower room with a WC, a basin and a walk-in rain shower – brilliant for when you come in from the beach or the hot tub.

All five bedrooms are upstairs on the first floor. There are two bedrooms with a king-size bed: one with an en-suite shower room and the other with a washbasin in the room. There is also a double bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe and a wash basin in the room, a twin bedroom with two single beds, and a bedroom with bunkbeds. Each bedroom sleeps two guests and has hanging and drawer space for your belongings. From the upstairs of the property there are partial sea views.

There is also a family shower room on the first floor with walk-in shower, a WC, a basin and a heated towel rail.

Parking for up to six cars is available on the front drive.

There is a lockbox where you can access the key to the property for a self-check-in.

Location

The neighbourhood

The property is located in the vibrant and popular seaside resort of Abersoch, and the village centre is walkable from the house (however, do bear in mind that the return journey is uphill). Abersoch has convenience stores, a farm shop, pubs and restaurants, and there is plenty to see and do including two sandy beaches, facilities for sailing and water sports and a links golf course. Meanwhile, the coastal town of Pwllheli offers even more amenities, including supermarkets and recreational activities such as boat trips, as well as a renowned marina. As well as being well placed for exploring the miles of coastline and sandy beaches of the Llyn Peninsula, the property is within easy reach of several fantastic cultural attractions. Amongst them are the National Trust’s Plas yn Rhiw, a 17th-century house with Georgian additions, a lovely garden and stunning views across Cardigan Bay. Or, if you like castles, ruins and history, head to Criccieth Castle.

Getting around

A car is recommended for travelling to the property and ease of getting around. The nearest train stations are Pwllheli and Bangor, and these serve different lines.
