The neighbourhood
You are free to explore the estate grounds and gardens on your own, or a private tour with the head gardener can be arranged. Use of the tennis court is also available. Beauty treatments are available to book.
The property is located in north Cornwall, 3 miles from the coast and a short drive from Newquay. If you are looking for beaches, particularly for surfing, it’s a fantastic spot. Crantock to the west of Newquay, and Watergate Bay to the east, are within a 6-mile drive and offer excellent surfing with equipment for hire.
If you have children in tow, a day at the beach is hard to beat. However, Dairyland which is virtually opposite the estate is worth a visit and offers swings, slides and an indoor play area.
Other attractions include Trerice, an Elizabethan manor house belonging to National Trust, which is just 1 mile away. Meanwhile, The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan also make good days out, as does exploring the country and coastal beauty of the traffic-free Camel Trail on foot or by bike.
Cornwall offers fantastic culinary delights and whether you fancy casual dining, fine fare or something completely different, you won’t be far away from something to suit. Newquay, Padstow and St Ives all offer a good choice of restaurants and pubs serving local, seasonal menus. There’s also the Camel Valley Winery and Haywood Farm Cider to discover.
Getting around
A car is recommended for travelling to the property and ease of getting around. There is ample private parking. However, Bodmin parkway Railway Station is about a 25-minute taxi ride and trains from London take approximately 4 hours. Newquay airport is about 20 minutes away.
