The Lake District isn’t just for sailing and walking – the rivers and lakes are primed for coarse angling with plentiful pike and trout in the waters, as well as salmon.
Fishing in the National Park itself is controlled by local Angling associations which welcome visitors and offer both day and week permits. Lakes Coniston and Ullswater and Windermere are free to fish at. Lake Windermere is a great place to combine your fishing trip with rambles in the fells or sightseeing in the nearby town. The best time to go fishing in the Lakes is between the end of March and September.
