Luxury Cottages Wye Valley

Wye Valley Holiday Cottages

The Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, straddling England and Wales, boasts some of the most beautiful landscapes in the UK. It is the perfect destination for a cottage holiday in the countryside, outdoor pursuits, lunching in country pubs and visiting gorgeous riverside towns.

On the Welsh side, visit Haye-on-Wye, known as the town of books and famous for its literature festival. On the English side, there’s Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire that attracts antique hunters with its trail of vintage shops.

If you prefer to explore the countryside, the Wye Valley is ideal for walkers and cyclists. Meanwhile, it’s the River Wye that attracts those looking for a kayaking or canoeing adventure where the sights and wildlife can be relished from the tranquillity of the water.

The Best Things to Do in the Wye Valley

From gentle country rambles to challenging hikes, Wye Valley is a walkers’ paradise with something for every ability. With so many links to film and TV series, there’s even a film trail where you can spot the backdrops to Harry Potter, Doctor Who and Star Wars, to name a few.

Just across the river is Hereford city with its fabulous 11th century cathedral, museums, shops, restaurants and riverside walks. And in Ross-on-Wye, kids will love roaming the ruins of Goodrich Castle.

To the north of Wye Valley lies the Black and White Village trail, a 40-mile circular route through timber-framed medieval settlements, many of which are in the Domesday book. The trail is well signposted and you can pick it up at any point either by foot, bike or car.
