Built on the site of a Roman fort and with a 16th-century tower house at its heart, plus 17th, 18th and 19th-century additions, the mansion is a spectacular building. This two-bedroom house is ideal for a family who love spending time together both indoors and out. You won’t have to go far for an adventure, as the estate grounds are perfect for a family walk or a game of hide-and-seek.

This two-bedroom house is decorated in a modern style and is furnished to a very high standard. On the ground floor there’s an open-plan kitchen/diner with a dining table and chairs, that’s equipped with an electric oven and induction hob, a microwave, fridge/freezer, coffee machine, dishwasher and washer/dryer. There’s a separate living room with sofa seating and a 40-inch Smart TV, plus a wood-burning stove.

Upstairs, there are two bedrooms. One has a king-size bed and the other has a double bed. They share a family bathroom with a bath with a shower over, a WC and sink.

You’ll also have access to the estate’s 36 acres of grounds that include parkland and a walled garden.

Meanwhile, benches are positioned in scenic spots so that you can enjoy reading a good book, chatting or daydreaming in peace.

A member of staff will greet you on arrival and show you into the property, which is located in relatively close proximity to other apartments and cottages. Alternatively, a self-check can be arranged if required. The estate grounds and walled garden are available to guests of all the apartments and cottages at the site.

The estate’s kitchen garden supplies fruit, vegetables and micro herbs to the nearby Michelin starred restaurant, Pentonbridge Inn. Biomass heating is used across all the properties and in the glasshouses, while other crops that require warmth, such as tomatoes, aubergines and peppers, are grown in season.

We plant a tree for every booking we make to help offset some of the carbon emissions generated by our stays.

Dog Exercise Area - we now have a dedicated area where dogs can be exercised off lead, this is located on the left-hand side as you make your way down the driveway, please ask at reception for information.

Deposit: Bookings are subject to a non-refundable deposit of 30% of the booking value plus applicable booking fees with the balance payable 60 days before the date of travel.

Accidental Damage Deposit: To maintain the highest standards in our properties, guests will need to pay a refundable Accidental Damage Deposit of £200 prior to their stay. An advance payment as detailed in the booking summary can be made to waive this requirement.

The property enjoys a peaceful location in the Cumbrian countryside, near the border with Scotland. You are welcome to explore the grounds of the estate that span 36 acres. Parkland with extensive lawns, a Victorian pleasure garden, a large walled garden that measures just over an acre, herbaceous borders and wildflower meadows all await you.

Views from the grounds are spectacular and it’s possible to see as far as the Scottish hills. The mansion’s grounds also play host to a number of events throughout the year, including classic car shows.
