Bude is around 20 minutes away with a gorgeous beach and a wide variety of shops, restaurants and pubs, Additionally, there are plenty of sports facilities including rock climbing, horse riding, golf and cycling, not to mention the famous Bude sea pool.
With scenic walking routes at every turn and a selection of beaches to explore, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Sandymouth Beach is 20 minutes away, while Summerleaze Beach, Crooklets, Northcott Mouth and Widemouth are also within easy reach.
The wild Devon Coastline is perfect for exploring with the dramatic rock formations of Welcombe Mouth Beach, 15 15-minute drive away.
Fancy a walk from the house? Follow the footpath across the fields and walk through the back lanes into Bradworthy (45 mins), where there’s a local pub and two shops should you need any essentials. The beautiful village of Woolsery with the acclaimed Farmers Arms, shop and fish and chips is 10 10-minute drive away.
The picturesque fishing village of Clovelly is a delightful find and just 15 minutes’ drive from Skylark. It's worth the steep walk down the cobbled street to reach the harbour, where you can have lunch at the pub and watch the fishing boats come and go. If, once you're down there, you can’t face the walk back to the top, grab a lift in the estate Land Rover.
Feeling adventurous? Head to Big Blue Surf School for surf lessons, try wakeboarding at North Devon Wake Park, paddle boarding on Tamar lakes, or embark on a scenic hike along the Tarka Trail, the South West Coast Path and the Camel Trail.
Many family-friendly days out are nearby – The Big Sheep with Devon's biggest indoor play area is 25 minutes away if the weather looks suspect. The Milky Way Adventure Park is also less than 15 minutes away.
Should you wish to venture further, the barn is conveniently placed near the Atlantic Highway which provides access to a range of family-friendly days out. Tintagel Castle, The Eden Project, Trethorne Leisure Park, Port Issac and Padstow are all within reach.
