    One of three luxury retreats on the site, Cowdale Cottage is perfect for a relaxing countryside escape with family and friends in a peaceful setting. Your holiday begins at the winding driveway that is lined with blossom trees in spring and surrounded by unspoilt countryside. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a cosy living space with a country-style vibe throughout, three en-suite bedrooms and a south-facing garden and terrace with breathtaking views. Should you wish to explore the area, there is an abundance of walking and cycling routes on the doorstep or you can venture to the historic city of York for a family-friendly day out.

  • The space

    Step inside the cottage and into the warm and welcoming kitchen/dining room. The room is adorned with country-style décor, while the kitchen provides everything you should need to self-cater with ease including an electric oven and hob, a dishwasher, a microwave, a fridge/freezer and a coffee machine. Meanwhile, the six-seater dining table is perfect for savouring delicious meals or planning your next adventure. Homemade bread and artisan pizzas can also be made to order with plenty of notice and at an additional fee if you don't feel like cooking.

    Next door, the light and spacious living room has been decorated with a cosy log cabin theme and comprises two large sofas and a Smart TV. There is also a flame-effect fireplace which is ideal for cooler nights.

    Head upstairs to the first floor where you will find three beautiful bedrooms, each with an en-suite shower room, a TV and luxurious soft furnishings. There is a zip and link super king bedroom, a king size bedroom and a twin bedroom.

    Outside, you will have access to a south-facing terrace and garden with furniture and a charcoal BBQ. The far-reaching views of the Yorkshire Wolds are outstanding and make for a great backdrop when enjoying a delicious alfresco meal or a crisp glass of wine on a sunny evening.

  • Concierge services and experiences

    Willow Sculpting

    Willow sculpting and willow weaving require a minimum of six participants. The class includes creating small woodland-themed sculptures, garden frames and baskets to take away with you.

    Wire Sculpting

    The owner is an expert in wire sculpting and will teach you to create your very own sculpture. Classes run for the full day and a homemade lunch with wine can be included at an additional fee.

    Painting and Drawing

    The beautiful surroundings provide the perfect setting for beginners and advanced artists alike. The classes are taught by experienced artists, plus a homemade lunch with wine can be included at an additional fee.

    Yoga

    Relax and recharge in tranquil surroundings and join in on a yoga class with an experienced instructor.

    Sourdough Bread Baking

    The owner is a passionate cook and will teach you how to make your own loaf of bread and provide a sourdough starter kit so you can work on your new skill at home too.

    Deposit: Bookings are subject to a non-refundable deposit of 30% of the booking value plus applicable booking fees with the balance payable 60 days before the date of travel.

    Accidental Damage Deposit: To maintain the highest standards in our properties, guests will need to pay a refundable Accidental Damage Deposit of £200 prior to their stay. An advance payment as detailed in the booking summary can be made to waive this requirement.

    Book with confidence: If your booking is affected by new Government travel restrictions which were not known at the time of booking, and you are legally unable to travel, we will arrange with the property owner to refund 100% of your holiday cost.

The neighbourhood

The cottage is located in the picturesque Yorkshire Wolds with pretty walks from the doorstep including the Wolds Way footpath, The Chalkland Way and The Minster Way. If you prefer a two-wheel adventure, bring your bikes along and admire the stunning scenery as you go.

There are plenty of great pubs and restaurants in the area, with the closest being The Wolds Inn which serves a range of traditional meals and local ales, plus it's within walking distance. The Gaite and The Goodmanham Arms are also great choices and just a 10-minute drive away, while the Michelin-starred restaurant Pipe & Glass is a 20-minute drive. Booking is essential.

York is 30 minutes away and perfect for a day trip or a spot of retail therapy. Discover this stunning Roman and Viking city with its beautiful architecture and historic landmarks, grab a bite to eat at one of the many eateries or head to the National Railway Museum for a journey through time.

If you wish to venture towards the coast, Flamborough Head, Filey, Bridlington and Fraisethorpe beach are all around 35-minutes away and are all dog-friendly too.

Other nearby attractions include Castle Howard, Burton Agnes Hall, Willams Den at North Cave, Piglets Adventure Farm, Allerthorpe Water Park and Yorkshire Air Museum.

Getting around

A car is essential for travelling to the property and ease of getting around.
