Snowdonia Guide

Luxury Cottages Snowdonia

Snowdonia Holiday Cottages

Covering an area of 823 square miles, the rocky and rugged region of Snowdonia is the biggest National Park in Wales. You’ll discover a vast range of natural features while exploring the glorious landscape, including towering mountains, sparkling lakes, moorlands, icy gorges  and so much more.

Climbing Mount Snowdon is certainly an opportunity not to be missed. At the top there are extraordinary views stretching for miles – even as far as the Isle of Man. This particular part of Wales is a hiker’s paradise, with trails in both the high and low mountain ranges. However, there are also more leisurely coastal routes (such as the trail between Machynlleth and Penrhyndeudraeth) for those who wish to enjoy a relaxed stroll.

The Best Places to Visit in Snowdonia

Snowdonia National Park is best known for its mountain peaks, forests and lakes. It’s the perfect place for outdoor pursuits and adventure activities. Thrill-seekers should head to Blaenau Ffestiniog where Zip World Llechwedd is sure to get the adrenaline flowing. The area is also popular with mountain bikers.

Meanwhile, the village of Llanberis is a good base to see Mount Snowdon whether you simply want to admire it from afar or reach the summit. Another pretty village is Betws-y-Coed that is set beside the River Conwy and is a short walk to the beautiful Swallow Falls.

The region also stretches to the coast at the idyllic seaside resort of Harlech where there’s a sandy beach and the impressive Harlech Castle.

The Best Things to Do in Snowdonia

While in Snowdonia you must see Mount Snowdown. If you fancy the challenge of scaling it on foot, there are several routes to choose from. Or, travel up with ease on the Snowdon Mountain Railway. The views are incredible.

If you’re looking for water sports, head to Adventure Parc Snowdonia for a spot of inland surfing. Or feel the thrill of white water rafting on the rapids of the River Tryweryn. Away from the water, there’s zip-wiring through a forest or over a slate mine to get the blood pumping, or try mountain biking at Coed y Brenin.

For something more tranquil, visit Bala Lake for a stroll around the town and a scenic train ride beside the water.
