On a list of things to do in Pembrokeshire, we had to start with a medieval castle. One of Britain’s finest and best-preserved, Pembroke Castle dates back to around 1093 and is best known as the birthplace of Henry VII, the first Tudor king.
Spend the day exploring the endless tunnels and passageways or have a picnic in the extensive grounds before you head for the exhibitions. If you want a better view of the castle in all its splendour, take the footpath along the town walls and castle millpond.
When visiting in the summer, the castle is lit by the evening sun surrounded by a peaceful stretch of water.
One of Wales’s best seaside towns on the Pembrokeshire Coast is blessed with a picturesque harbour, Tenby Harbour Beach with its golden sands and colourful Victorian houses on its border.
In the summer months, take a boat trip out to the nearby holy island of Caldey Island, explore the Museum and Art Gallery for local art, or sip on real Welsh ale at Harbour Brewery.
