  • About the property

    Y Bwthyn Gwyn is a beautiful, 300-year-old cottage which has been renovated and extended to create a spacious and modern family home. The original part of the house retains many architectural period features yet exudes contemporary living and style. There are summer and winter lounge areas, plus a fantastic outdoor dining space that’s the ideal spot for enjoying a barbecue feast and evening drinks. With four double bedrooms, the cottage is perfect for family and friends to relax in the quiet rural village of Mynytho, with direct access to footpaths, while the restaurants, shops and beaches of Abersoch are just 2.5 miles away.

  • The space

    Combining an old cottage and a modern extension, the house has an interesting layout and there are several levels on both the ground and first floor, as well as steps into certain rooms.

    The hub of the house is the ‘summer’ lounge which is part of the of open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining room. The space is flooded with natural light and is perfect for being together for everything from breakfast gatherings to evening celebrations. There is a large corner Loaf sofa seating, as well as a dining table and chairs, plus there’s Sky TV with Netflix and an Alexa smart speaker.

    Meanwhile, the kitchen features beautiful shaker style units with ample storage and is equipped with everything you could need including a fridge, freezer, Rangemaster electric oven and hob and a dishwasher.

    In a separate utility room, there’s a microwave, as well as a washing machine and a tumble dryer.

    Bi-fold doors lead off the summer lounge onto the side patio where there’s a bistro dining set and loungers to relax on. A further set of bi-fold doors lead off the dining area onto the rear outdoor terrace area where there’s a large dining table with seating for 8 guests and a charcoal BBQ. It’s the perfect place for socialising on balmy evenings.

    The cottage also boasts a ‘winter’ lounge in the original part of the building. An elegant and indulgent room, here you can sink into the huge Loaf sofa and get comfortable beside the inglenook fire where there’s a wood burner to make things extra cosy. The room also has Sky TV with Netflix and a Wii games console for those lazy movie nights together or for the kids to enjoy some downtime alone.

    There are four double bedrooms, two on the ground floor with king-size beds and two upstairs, one with a double bed and the other with a super-king-size bed. One of the downstairs bedrooms has French doors that lead onto the rear outdoor terrace area, while the super-king bedroom upstairs features a Juliette balcony.

    Both floors have a shower room with a WC, sink and heated towel rail.

    There is a key safe where you can access the key to the property for a self-check-in.

    Deposit: Bookings are subject to a non-refundable deposit of 30% of the booking value plus applicable booking fees with the balance payable 60 days before the date of travel.

    Accidental Damage Deposit: To maintain the highest standards in our properties, guests will need to pay a refundable Accidental Damage Deposit of £350 prior to their stay. An advance payment as detailed in the booking summary can be made to waive this requirement.

    Book with confidence: If your booking is affected by new Government travel restrictions which were not known at the time of booking, and you're legally unable to travel, we will arrange with the property owner to refund 100% of your holiday cost.

The neighbourhood

The house is located on the outskirts of the rural village of Mynytho on the southern Llyn Peninsula.

Just a few minutes’ drive away is the lovely coastal village of Llanbedrog. Renowned for its sheltered bay, it’s a lovely spot for families with young children to spend a day at the beach, while nature walks through the network of woodland and heathland paths are a delight. Whilst in the village, do also visit Oriel Plas Glyn y Weddw, Wales’ oldest art gallery which is a treasure trove of culture and history.

The property is perfectly placed for exploring the miles of coastline and sandy beaches of the Llyn Peninsula. For plenty of facilities and things to do, head to the popular seaside resort of Abersoch, about 2.5 miles away. As well as a good range of convenience stores, pubs and restaurants, there are two sandy beaches, facilities for sailing and water sports and a links golf course to keep you busy, as well as a vibrant atmosphere.

A little further along the coast is Pwllheli which offers even more choices of amenities and recreational activities including boat trips, as well as a renowned marina.

Getting around

We recommend a car for travelling to the property and ease of getting around. There is parking for up to 3 cars. Bicycles and electric bikes are available to hire locally.
