  • About the property

This timber clad barn used to be a florist’s workshop and is now a cosy and characterful place for two to stay. Décor is modern throughout with strong pops of colour, such as the blue kitchen units and the botanical themed statement headboard in the bedroom, that beautifully hint at its former life. Situated in the hamlet of Pibsbury it’s a fantastic base for enjoying the south Somerset countryside, while the private south-facing garden and hot tub make it perfect for a quiet and romantic break.

  • The space

Slip off muddy boots at the entrance of the cottage where there is a storm porch with a beautifully tiled floor. Inside, the accommodation is all on the one level and there is oak flooring throughout.

At the heart of the property is the open-plan kitchen/dining/lounge room which has wooden ceiling beams and velux windows. Snuggle up in front of the wood burner after a winter walk or on a chilly evening. There's a Smart TV with Freeview, plus access to Netflix /Amazon/iPlayer (own login details required), or you might be content just gazing at the views across the countryside.

The kitchen space has all you could need to whip up everything from a romantic breakfast or a relaxing dinner. There’s an oven and hob, a microwave, a Nespresso coffee machine, a kettle, a toaster, a fridge/freezer and a dishwasher. Sit down at the dining table for two and enjoy your meal whilst planning the next day’s adventure.

Two sets of French doors lead back outside to the enclosed, private south-facing garden at the front of the cottage. Here, you will find your cedarwood hot tub (which is electrically heated and has jets), two lounge chairs and throws so that you can relax outdoors, sipping drinks and stargazing until late.

There is also a utility room which is attached to the cottage but has a separate entrance. Inside, there is a washing machine and space to hang wet clothes, while the space also provides handy lockable bike storage.

The bedroom features a king-size bed, a wardrobe and drawers, as well as an en-suite shower room with a walk-in shower, a WC and a basin. A hairdryer is also provided.

There is a key safe where you can access the key to the property for a self-check-in. The owners live on site, at a different property, and are available if you should need assistance during your stay.

Location

Local Info

The neighbourhood

The cottage is located on the A372 in the hamlet of Pibsbury, between the villages of Long Sutton and Huish Episcopi. There is a farm shop in Long Sutton, local shops stocked with essentials in Somerton and Langport, while the nearest supermarket is also in Langport.

The nearest pub is in Huish Episcopi, under 1 mile away, and it serves food and real ale, while there are some good restaurants a short drive away in Long Sutton, Somerton and Barrington.

The cottage is set within Windmill Farm which is in the middle of 10 acres of fields and paddocks that you are welcome to explore. One of the fields is free of sheep and chickens, so if you have a dog with you, you can let them off their lead here for a play.

There are plenty of public footpaths close to the cottage and cycling routes in the area to help you enjoy the Somerset countryside. The local town of Langport, about 1.5 miles away, is a great place to combine exploring with refreshments in one of the lovely coffee shops. Try a walk along the River Parret Trail or a bike ride to some of the pretty villages of the Somerset Levels.

The Somerset Levels is a great place for birdwatching too and RSPB Ham Wall makes a lovely day out if you like being amongst nature.
