Perhaps the most impressive room of the whole house is the Great Hall which is a formal dining room, perfect for hosting lavish dinners. With a minstrel’s gallery, a large fireplace and a long antique dining table, there’s a real sense of occasion that makes every meal feel special.
The Long Room, located upstairs beneath the eaves of the property, is equally stunning. When you want some quiet time, this is the place to head to. With its beautiful ceiling detail, plentiful natural light and a library of books, it’s easy to relax.
Alternatively, there’s the lounge which is designed for everyone to make themselves at home, enjoy a drink and chat. There’s seating for 14 guests and a log burner that makes it extra cosy on chilly evenings. Or, there’s the cinema room which has a noticeably modern feel compared to the rest of the house. If it’s raining outside, open up the popcorn and get comfy for a few hours of movies and gaming together in front of the 65” 4K Ultra HD TV – it has a DreamScreen and Dolby Atmos surround sound system for the full entertainment experience.
Meanwhile, the cooks in the group can rustle up meals in the delightful kitchen which is well-equipped with an electric Range oven and a combination microwave, and also has a pantry. With a breakfast bar and a window seat, it’s a social space where cooks and helpers can chat as they prep.
The manor house has seven bedrooms in total. On the ground floor, there are two bedrooms. Both of these rooms have a super-king-size bed, one of which is zip-and-link-style and can be split into two singles. These bedrooms share a ground-floor shower room with a walk-in shower, WC and sink.
Upstairs there are five bedrooms, including the master suite which has a king-size four-poster bed and an en-suite shower room with a walk-in shower, two sinks and a WC. The other four bedrooms each have a super-king-size bed, three of which can be split into two single beds. Two of these bedrooms have a TV and share a bathroom with a bath, WC and sink, whilst the other two bedrooms share a shower room with a walk-in shower, WC and sink.
The house also has two cloakrooms.
Outside, there are over two acres of private gardens. The inner courtyard is a lovely spot to enjoy breakfast or sip a cup of tea, while the large enclosed walled garden has a huge lawn that’s great for playing garden games. There’s also an outdoor heated swimming pool that’s available to use from mid-May to September (weather permitting) and a dining area that’s ideal for barbecues. If you fancy a game of tennis there's a full-size court with a hard base and rackets and balls are provided. A tennis coach can be arranged if you wish to improve your game.
The caretaker of the property lives nearby and will meet you on arrival, give you the keys and show you around.
Heating and hot water in the house is provided by a biomass boiler, while the pool is heated by solar panels and an air-source heat pump.
Two travel cots and highchairs are available – these must be requested at the time of your booking. Please bring your own bedding for the cots.
The swimming pool is 1.25m deep and is available to use from mid-May to September (weather permitting). It is heated by solar panels and an air-source heat pump, so the temperature varies depending on the weather but is usually a comfortable 25 degrees or more in the summer. Please bring your own beach towels to use by the pool.
If you wish to use the barbecue, please bring charcoal and firelighters as these are not provided.
