About the property
Highland Lodge is a delightful cabin that’s ideal for a family holiday in Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. With a forested area behind it and views looking over the private estate and down the glen with Loch Dochart to the north and Ben More to the south, Explorers Lodge is made for relaxing. There’s no better place to do so on a clear day than from the large patio area but, if you have been more adventurous and been out hiking or cycling, the private sauna and bubbling spa bath are a welcome way to soothe achy limbs.
Highland Lodge has two floors and offers plenty of space for a multigenerational family to spread out. Traditionally decorated and with all the modern comforts you’d expect, plus a lovely wood burner, it’s a cosy and homely place to stay.
The spacious lounge area has a selection of sofas and chairs for everyone to join together and chill out watching the TV, which comes with SKY Freeview channels (a SKY Package is available), and there is also a Blu Ray DVD and a Nintendo Wii. Alternatively, take in the sweeping views through the patio doors that open onto a large private terrace from where the view is even more stunning.
In the living area there is a hidden drop-down double bed that can be used as additional space to accommodate families of up to 7 or 8 people.
The well-equipped kitchen features everything from a sandwich toaster and microwave, to a dishwasher and washing machine, as well as a good selection of cutlery, crockery, pots and pans. Guests can take snacks at the breakfast bar, or sit down together at the Bavarian-style dining table and benches – another indication of the cabin’s informal and social brand of style.
Upstairs is the master bedroom with a king size sleigh bed and an en-suite bathroom with a power shower, plus a private balcony which is the ideal place to take your morning coffee. A second bedroom features twin single beds, which can be zipped and linked, plus an en-suite bathroom with bath and overhead power shower. Downstairs, there is a third bedroom with a king size bed and an en-suite bathroom with overhead shower.
Outdoors on the patio, which is furnished with a table and chairs, is a perfect spot to have a barbecue (use of which is available on request).
Guests are invited to check-in remotely before travelling and will receive full directions on how to reach the property. There is space to park a couple of cars outside the property and there are a few steps up to the entrance.
Highland lodge features programmable, low energy, mineral-filled electric heating. The privately-owned estate on which the cabin is located attracts an array of Scottish wildlife including ospreys, deer and red squirrels. To help the birdlife of the area a number of bird feeders and boxes are situated in the grounds, so there is almost always something to see. Guests are also encouraged to recycle their food waste to make compost to be used on the estate, whilst there is a tree adoption scheme where you can have a tree planted in your name.
