  • About the property

Egret Lodge is a cabin-style lodge set on the south and west ridges of a private, family-run estate in the heart of the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. It’s a cosy and homely place for a family holiday in the Scottish Highlands where days can be spent walking and cycling around scenic trails that incorporate woods and lochs, and evenings can be enjoyed dining together and planning tomorrow’s big adventure.

  • The space

The heart of the lodge is the open-plan living space that comprises the kitchen, dining and lounge areas. For rainy days in, there is a Smart TV with Blu Ray DVD, plus a stereo and iPod docking station to help you all stay entertained.

Meanwhile, the fitted kitchen is equipped with all the cooking utensils, pots and pans you might need to cook up dinner, or prepare packed lunches for a day out exploring your Highlands surroundings. There’s a dining table and chairs to sit four of you comfortably, or you can step through the sliding patio doors to eat outside on the balcony which is the perfect place to enjoy a barbecue. A gas barbecue is available on request and will be delivered to the lodge for you.

There is a king-size double bedroom, and a second bedroom with two single beds which is ideal for children, both with wardrobe space to keep the place clutter-free. There’s also a family bathroom that features a bath with a shower over.

  • Guest access

On arrival at the privately-owned estate on which the lodge is located, there is a reception area for check-in, before driving on to Egret Lodge where there is space to park your car.

  • Sustainability ?

Egret Lodge features low-energy, mineral-filled electric radiators. Meanwhile, guests across the estate are asked to sort their plastics, glass and paper and deposit them in the recycling bins provided, whilst food waste can be recycled in the composting bins.

The estate is a rich habitat for local wildlife including deer, red squirrels and pine martens, as well as a host of birds. Bird boxes, bird feeders and bat boxes are positioned in the grounds to help bird and bat populations to thrive. You can also buy bird food from the on-site shop to fill up feeders and encourage feathered friends yourself.

If you’d like to help further with the estate’s sustainability programme, you can donate to adopt a tree which will be planted in a location of your choice. You can even purchase a plaque to commemorate the occasion or dedicate the tree to a loved one.

Local Info

The neighbourhood

The private estate on which Egret Lodge is located offers a wide array of outdoor activities, including free use of bikes to help you explore the numerous trails in the area. Kayaks and canoes are also available to use free of charge. There are many local walking routes too, from short strolls around the loch, to long distance routes through glens, to hillwalking.

If you’ve come for the fishing, there are five miles of loch and river where you can try your luck. Wild salmon and trout (in season) are the main attraction and rowing boats and rods are available to use.

There is also a games room with pool table and table tennis, as well as a small gym and a visitor centre with a small shop selling essentials, freshly prepared ready-made meals and local meats – ideal for a barbecue feast.

Nearby in Crianlarich village, you will find a small selection of amenities including a village store, butcher, tea room and pub.

About a 20-minute drive away is the Falls of Dochart which is a lovely place to enjoy a walk and stop for a picnic, which can be combined with a dose of history at Moirlanich Longhouse nearby. Day trips further afield include Inveraray Castle and several whisky distilleries.

Getting around

We recommend travelling to Egret Lodge by car. The lodge is about 2 miles away from the pretty village of Crianlarich and is a great base from which to explore Central and West Scotland. Loch Lomond is about 20 minutes away, Glencoe 40 minutes, the coastal town of Oban 45 minutes, Stirling, Fort William and Glasgow within 1 hour 30 minutes, and Edinburgh about 2 hours.
