  • About the property

Dochart View is a traditional Scottish cottage which is spacious and homely, located on a privately-owned estate in the beautiful Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. Surrounded by typical Highland scenery of lush, green mountains and a sparkling loch, Dochart View is an excellent, secluded spot to enjoy time with family or friends, plenty of fresh air, stunning views and a host of walking and cycling trails right on the estate.

  • The space

Dochart View’s accommodation is spread out over two floors. The spacious, open-plan kitchen has plenty of room and everything you could possibly need to cook all your meals. There’s a breakfast bar for devouring a quick snack at, whilst the dining table is big enough for all eight guests to get around comfortably – perfect for eating dinner whilst discussing plans for the next day’s adventure. On warm days, why not cook up a barbecue feast for your clan to enjoy? A gas barbecue is available on request and will be delivered to the cottage for you.

For getting cosy on rainy days or dark evenings, there’s a large lounge area with two plump sofas that’s a great place to socialise and relax. Also included is an entertainment system with LCD TV, Blu Ray DVD and Nintendo Wii, so you can watch films and play games to your heart’s content.

Meanwhile, French doors in the living area lead outdoors to a private patio equipped with garden furniture so that you can dine al fresco or simply drink in the unrestricted views over Loch Dochart, Glen Dochart and the mountains that include the towering Ben More. You might even be lucky enough to spot deer venturing down from the hills on their way to the lambing meadow, so keep your eyes peeled.

Upstairs there is a master bedroom with a super king-size double bed and an en-suite shower room, with the added bonus of a spectacular view across Glen Dochart. There are two more double bedrooms upstairs with a shared family bathroom with bath and shower over. The fourth bedroom is downstairs and features two large single beds and an en-suite shower room with power shower.

  • Guest access

On arrival at the privately-owned estate on which the cottage is located, there is a reception area for check-in, before driving on to Dochart View where there is space to park your car.

  • Sustainability

Guests are asked to sort their plastics, glass and paper and deposit them in the recycling bins provided, whilst food waste can be recycled in the composting bins.

The estate is a rich habitat for a plethora of local wildlife including deer, red squirrels and pine martens, as well as a host of birds. Bird boxes, bird feeders and bat boxes are positioned in the grounds to help bird and bat populations to thrive. You can also buy bird food from the on-site shop to fill up feeders and encourage feathered friends yourself.

If you’d like to help further with the estate’s sustainability programme, you can donate to adopt a tree which will be planted in a spot of your choice. You can even purchase a plaque to commemorate the occasion or dedicate the tree to a loved one.

Local Info

The neighbourhood

The private estate on which Dochart View is located offers a wide array of outdoor activities, including free use of bikes to explore the numerous trails in the area. Kayaks are also available to use free of charge and the ruined castle located on a small island on Loch Dochart is a popular place to paddle to. There are many local walking routes too, from short strolls around the loch to long distance routes through glens to hillwalking.

If you’ve come for the fishing, then there are five miles of loch and river to try your luck. Wild salmon and trout (in season) are the main attraction and rowing boats and rods are available to use.

There is also a games room with pool table and table tennis, as well as a small gym and a visitor centre with a small shop selling essentials, freshly prepared ready-made meals and local meats – ideal for that barbecue feast.

Nearby in Crianlarich village, you will find a small selection of amenities including a village store, butcher, tea room and pub.

About a 20-minute drive away is the Falls of Dochart which is a lovely place to enjoy a walk and stop for a picnic, which can be combined with a dose of history at Moirlanich Longhouse nearby. Days trips further afield include Inveraray Castle and several whisky distilleries.

Getting around

We recommend travelling to Dochart View by car. The cottage is about 2 miles away from the pretty village of Crianlarich and is a great base from which to explore Central and West Scotland. Loch Lomond is about 20 minutes away, Glencoe 40 minutes, the coastal town of Oban 45 minutes, Stirling, Fort William and Glasgow within 1 hour 30 minutes, and Edinburgh about 2 hours.
