  • About the property

Bumblebee Cottage is one half of a beautiful barn conversion (the other being Flowerpot Cottage) and offers a luxury retreat for two to spend a romantic break together. Enjoying a secluded setting at the end of a country lane, lovely views and a delightful cottage garden with a private hot tub, you’ll soon feel relaxed. Almost all year round there’s a splash of colour provided by beautiful blooms in the garden and if you wish to surprise your beloved with a special bouquet, this can be arranged. If you’re looking for somewhere that’s tranquil, yet within a short drive of Lake District towns and walking trails, this is the place for you.

  • The space

On the ground floor, there’s a welcoming open-plan living space with patio doors that lead outside. Cosy up together on the sofa in front of the wood-burning stove and watch a film on the Smart TV. Or, rustle up breakfast in bed or a romantic dinner for your beloved in the kitchen that is well-equipped with everything you could need, plus there’s a dining table for two. There’s also a handy utility room with a washing machine and a downstairs toilet.

Upstairs, you’ll find the spacious bedroom suite which is filled with light coming from the floor-to-ceiling windows and has a super-king-size bed dressed with Egyptian cotton bedding. There’s a second Smart TV, with Google Assistant too, so you can snuggle up for the night and watch a film before you drift off to sleep. There’s also an en-suite walk-in shower room.

Outside, there’s a charming private cottage garden, a courtyard seating area and a covered hot tub so that you can enjoy being outside whatever the weather. Drink in the lovely Cumbrian views by day, or head outside on a clear night with the telescope that’s provided and enjoy a spot of stargazing – the rural location has hardly any light pollution.

Local Info

The neighbourhood

The cottage is located at the end of a country lane in rural, north Cumbria. It feels remote, however is only about a 5-minute drive from the centre of the nearest village where there are some shops and places to eat. The Cumbrian Way footpath passes through the village, so it’s a great place to go walking, while the local lanes are perfect for leisurely bike rides. If you want a slice of city life, Carlisle is also just a short drive from the cottage.

The cottage is a great place from which to get out and explore more of the region’s beautiful scenery, as it’s situated between the two World Heritage Sites of the Lake District and Hadrian’s Wall. It’s also good for day trips into the Eden Valley and the Scottish border towns, for everything from fell-walking to visiting historic sites.

Getting around

Due to the rural location, a car is essential. The cottage is a short drive from Carlisle and the M6 motorway.
