It won’t take long to feel relaxed here whether that’s socialising in the spacious kitchen or chilling out in the hot tub or beside the firepit in the secluded garden. Should you feel the need for a little bit of exercise during your time away, there’s even a heated pool designed for a gentle resistance workout. Meanwhile, the local pub and a beautiful nature reserve are within a short walk, and when you want a little more life Harrogate is just a 10-minute drive away.

  • The space

Boo Lodge is a detached bungalow with electric security gates at the entrance to give you the utmost privacy. A few steps lead up to the property, but once inside, everything is on one level. One of the nicest features is that each room has access to the front or rear garden area via French doors and all the windows have plantation shutters to help regulate light and privacy.

The kitchen/diner is bright, spacious and very swish. At its heart is a large kitchen island with three bar stools, as well as a separate dining table to seat four, which makes it a great place to gather and chat whilst prepping a meal. There’s everything you could need to cook up a fantastic spread or a quick snack, including a Range cooker with a six-ring gas hob, whilst the finer details include a wine fridge and a Quooker instant boiling/chilled water tap.

In the sitting room, you’ll find two huge comfy sofas and an oversized armchair that beckon you to take the weight off your feet after a day out walking. There’s also a Smart TV and a flame-effect feature fireplace to help you get cosy for movie nights. If you should happen to play, there’s a grand piano in the corner where you can get creative and entertain your fellow guests. And, if you need to catch up with work, there’s a laptop-friendly desk where you can spread out. A large skylight, bi-fold and double doors flood the space with natural light.

The master bedroom features a king-size bed, a Smart TV and an en-suite with a waterfall shower and heated towel rail, while the second bedroom also has a king-size bed. Both have double doors that lead outdoors. Meanwhile, there’s a family bathroom with a walk-in shower and heated towel rail.

The outside space is perfect for anyone who likes to be in the fresh air as much as possible. In fact, you could spend the whole day here. A secluded spot, the garden is edged by mature trees and bushes and features a heated pool with swim current settings and an in-built treadmill, perfect for a morning workout. There’s also a barbecue, sunken TV area and a firepit, so you can cook, dine and relax even on chillier days. Meanwhile, the hot tub is ready to soothe your achy muscles after days out walking in the countryside or shopping in Harrogate.

From this holiday cottage, you can take pleasant walks for miles that lead to a nature reserve where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery. The nearest supermarket for stocking up on groceries is in Knaresborough about 4 miles away. By car, it’s just 10 minutes to the town of Harrogate where you can indulge at the famous Betty’s Tea Room, shop ‘til you drop or book a spa experience at Harrogate Turkish Baths.

A little bit further is the historic city of York that can be reached in about 35 minutes and is a delightful place to explore. Highlights include the York Minster, JORVIK Viking Centre, the narrow street known as The Shambles and walking the city walls.

For a day out more locally, head to Mother Shipton’s Cave said to be the birthplace of a Yorkshire prophetess and is famous for its petrified waterfall. Or there are the ruins of Knaresborough Castle which was once the stronghold of medieval kings, but today many come to enjoy the fantastic views down on Knaresborough, the River Nidd and the viaduct. There are plenty of historic homes in the area too that are wonderful places to spend a peaceful day. These include Newby Hall and Gardens, Ripley Castle and Allerton Castle, which are all within a 6-mile drive.

If you’re after a little more action embark on the River Nidd Waterside Walk where highlights include forest sculptures; spend a day at the races at Ripon Racecourse; or head into the North York Moors National Park for all kinds of outdoor pursuits.
