With lush glens and towering mountains, the Scottish countryside is a particularly beautiful destination for a romantic break. From cosy stone cottages tucked away in rolling hills to Highland lodges with views of a sparkling loch, here are some of our favourite places to stay.

Shepherd's Retreat, Ayrshire

View, views, views. That’s the wow factor at this modern cabin hidden away on a working farm in picturesque Ayrshire. Self-contained, it’s a fantastic little love nest for two to relax in peace.

There are far-reaching panoramas of the lush countryside all around, and you can even enjoy them without leaving the comfort of your bed. However, the hot tub in the private decked garden offers the best vistas, so make sure you indulge with a long soak, glass of champagne in-hand.

On a clear night, we suggest snuggling up outdoors and waiting for the wonderful tapestry of stars to appear above you – it’s a breath-taking sight.
